The hospital plain white shirt.

I used embroidery thread and crochet hook D. The pattern is from http://www.aestheticnest.com.

Crochet pattern :

Chain 4, Slst.

R1: Ch2. 9dc in center of the ring. (10dc)

R2: Ch5. Skip next dc. *1dc in next dc. Ch3. Skip next dc.** repeat * to **. Slst in 2nd Ch of beginning Ch5. (total 5 Ch3 spaces)

R3: working on the Ch3 space (sc, hdc, 3dc, hdc, sc). Slst in the 1st sc (5 petals)

R4 : working on the skipped dc in R1, change color if you want. Ch3. *Slst in the next skipped dc. Ch3**. Repeat * to **, Slst in the base of 1st ch3. (total 5 ch3 spaces)

R5: working on Ch3 space (sc, hdc, 2 dc, hdc, sc). Slst in the 1st sc. (total 5 petals)

For leaf, I used scrap fabric from Fun with batik: living room pillow project.

Stitch the crochet flower onto the shirt.

Got the fabric for the curtain on sale at $6.69/yard at fabric.com … I had been looking for fabric in orange color, with fun pattern, thick material, and good price. When it arrived I was so happy, it was all that I looked for.. the print quality is nice and the cotton duck fabric looks expensive. Iron the hem for upper and bottom edges in with 1/4″ allowance.

Sew the pocket strips onto upper hem.

I used Lily Sugar’n Cream 100% cotton medium#4 yarn in natural color, the hook is F.

Start with making chain as desired length then continue with single crochet as many row as wanted to get the width. Once you have the rectangle you can build up the row vertically to get the height… that’s it!

Part 1 of baby nursery project is wall mural.

The room has the wallpaper border around above the chair rail. Since it’s still in good condition and works well with my decor plan, I decided to leave it and go ahead with painting the wall.

Next, drawing and painting the trunk.

Preparing the leaves using scrap fabric.

Attaching the leaves. Spray wet and thoroughly the fabric with liquid starch (for ironing the cloth). When dried it will stay nicely on the wall.

The bird house. Got it for $1 at JoAnn during sale. Painted with left over dining room yellow color paint then covered with wrap paper.

The Birds. I Saw these birds at Etsy shop, it looked quite simple so I just DIY-it. What you need is felt, orange & black scrap fabric, and extra accessories to dress them up.

Each pillow needs 2 round pcs, 1 with ruffle and the other without ruffle.

To make the insert pillow, cut 2 pcs 18″ diameter fabric, sew the wrong side together then flip, fill with poly fiber, then sew close. (I drew the circle using pencil tied to a piece of 9″ long yarn)

Finishing : Stitch 2 round crochet pcs together with pillow insert inside, it might seem tight but it will eventually stretch to fit the pillow nicely.

It uses 2 strains of no#4 yarn (Lion Brand Baby Soft) with K hook. Here is the pattern :

- Chain multiple of 3 stitches then add 2 at the end. Basically we just chain the length to the measurement desired in multiple 3 chains then add 2 chains at the end.

- Single Crochet (SC) at the 1st stitch from the hook then 2 Double Crochets (DC) at the same space, skip 2 and repeat.

- At the end, SC at 1 last chain, chain 2 then turn.

- Repeat the pattern 1 SC, 2 DC at the space between 2 puff.

In the last 2 days of last year finally I was able to check one of my 2012 resolution which is crocheting. It all began when I saw so many pins in pinterest about crochet projects… so cute and adorable, I wished I had somebody to teach me how to do it… well Mr. Google came to help.

I can see crocheting is one of the way to meditate, saying prayer and wish in doing the stitches is really calming and relaxing, specially prayer for the person to whom this project is dedicated

My CH, SC, DC, HDC, TC, SlTc practice. I bought the yarn months before during sale for $1, at that time I didn’t know that certain size of yarn needs certain hook and what material works best for what project, I just picked whatever available on sale.

First crochet, Rose.

Color combination for my second crochet project, Baby Cloche. I used the light and dark pink.

A. Cherry filling

1. Drain 1 can pitted black cherry, keep the syrup in a small pan. Take 3 tbsp of the syrup in a small bowl, mix with 2 tbsp of corn starch.

2. Bring to boil the remaining syrup in the small pan + 2 tbsp sugar (optional as preferred sweetness), lower the heat then slowly stir in the corn starch mixture, keep stirring to avoid lump.

3. Put the cherry into the pan, keep stirring until the liquid gets even thickness. Turn off the heat, let it cool.

B. The Cake

1. Sift 1/2 C cake flour + 1/3 C unsweetened cocoa powder, set aside. Melt 3 tbsp unsalted butter, set aside. ( I forgot to take the picture of melted butter )

2. The eggs mixture: 1. Whisk 4 eggs + 2/3 C sugar. 2. Using double boiler method, put the egg mixture over the boiling water, keep whisking until you get lukewarm mixture. 3. Stir the mixture using high speed mixer, add 1 tsp of vanilla extract. 4. The batter should be pale and very thick.

3. Gently fold in the flour and melted butter alternately, make sure to use big stroke so that the batter won’t flatten.

4. Pour into 9″ pan (layered with parchment paper + butter), tap to remove excess air bubble, bake in 350F oven, test with toothpick.

5. Let the cake cool completely before divide into half.

C. Assembly

1. Brush 3 tbsp Kirschwasser, a clear liquor distilled from tart cherries. Here I used rum since I don’t have kirschwasser. Then put the cream layer followed by cherry filling and finish with cream layer before put the second layer of cake. For the cream: whisk 3 C heavy cream + 1 C powdered sugar (or as preferred sweetness).

2. Brush the top layer of cake with 3 tbsp of Kirschwasser before decorating. As you see I am not good at cake decoration, I wish I could make it look like the cake displayed in high end bakery
